Bealkelly in Purdon holds a faded earthen ringfort, the kind of quiet strong place people built when they wanted to keep what they loved. It may have served as a home, a boundary marker, or a small defence against hardship and invasion. The name Fairy fort suggests later people believed the land still belonged to unseen neighbours, and that is not stupidity but memory wearing a different face.
