Fairy fort in Ballyvaheen, County Cork: an oval earthen ringfort, 31 metres north-south and 23 metres east-west, set in pasture on a south-facing slope. Its low grass-covered bank, narrow external ditch and east-northeast entrance mark a small inhabited place where people shaped the hill rather than merely using it. The interior rises slightly on the south side, compensating for the slope, as if its makers understood the land well enough to answer it.

In pasture, on S-facing slope. Oval, saucer-shaped raised area (31m N-S; 23m E-W) defined by low grass-covered bank (int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.25m); external fosse (D 0.35m) NW ->SSW. Entrance (Wth 3m) to ENE. Interior raised on S side to compensate for hillslope. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
