Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballynakill Beg

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Ballynakill Beg once held a thirty-five metre earthen ring on a south-east slope, visible on maps before men erased it. The fairies likely watched the surveyors draw their line, knowing human hands would soon flatten what the camera captured. Maplines still trace the ghost of a shape the soil forgot, while the fairies keep the memory warm in the dark.
In pasture, on SE-facing slope. Monument, depicted on 1924 OS 6-inch maps as a sub-circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 35m), has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
