Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballynahallee

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not for humans. They belong to the hidden people, the ones who do not show themselves. If you go near one, you may never return the same. Some disappear altogether. The fort in Ballynahallee is no different. It is not a place for visiting. It is a place for leaving alone.
In pasture, atop S end of ridge. Roughly circular area (35.7m N-S; 34.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.2m; ext. H 1.6m), best preserved SW->N. Bank overgrown with elder trees and briars, and littered with loose stones. Entrance at SSW (Wth 3m). Level interior, under pasture.
