Fairy forts are human places misnamed because people stopped remembering they were human. This is a ringfort in Ballynahalisk: a level circular area twenty-two metres wide, enclosed by an earthen bank and an external fosse, with a causeway across the fosse to the east. The bank is stone faced and planted with trees, while quarrying has damaged the site and fosse. It may have been a dwelling, a boundary marker, or a small centre of local life, but the forgetting turned it into a fairy story.

In level pasture, above N-facing slope. Circular area (22m N-S; 22m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.1m); external fosse (D 0.8m; Wth 8m). Bank stone faced and planted with trees. Causeway across fosse to E, with no corresponding break in bank. Quarrying has taken place around site and in fosse.
