What is recorded here

No visible earth or stone remains of the Ballymacaquim East ringfort, yet it resisted complete erasure because surveyors marked it on the 1841-42 Ordnance Survey map. It occupied a corner of a field, small enough to be forgotten by ploughs and busy enough to be seen from a distance. The fairies may have taken it back, but human hands first drew its circle into record.

This circular enclosure is situated in a corner of a field. Marked on the 1841-42 OS map, it is less clear on the 1916 edition. No surface trace of this site survives.
