In small, greenfield area of farmyard which has been modified beyond recognition. This monument is depicted on the 1st (1840) and 2nd (1952-54) ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular area (map overall diam. c. 50m) defined by a bank and was drawn as such in a sketch plan and sections in 1954 (OS Field Memorandums). Monument presently defined by a scarp NE-SW which appears to be incorporated into field boundary. Field boundary overgrown and covered in fir trees SE-SSW. Truncated by modern farmyard to W and farm trackway to N. Interior level and raised above height of ground level to E and S. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ballycomisk, likely dating to the early medieval period, is represented on early Ordnance Survey maps as a circular earthwork with a diameter of about 50 meters. Local tradition associates such sites with fairy folklore, and they were often avoided due to beliefs in supernatural inhabitants.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
