Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballyara (knox) is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ballyara (knox), County Sligo, Ireland. It occupies an oval area on the east-facing slope of a rise in pasture. Two earthen banks surround the interior with fosses between and outside them. A rectangular platform in the centre may mark the foundations of a house.
In pasture, on the E-facing slope of a rise. An oval area (27m N-S; 22.7m E-W) enclosed by the remains of two earthen banks with intervening and external fosses. The inner bank (Wth 2.7m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.7m) is flat topped. The intervening fosse (Wth 2.7m) is flat bottomed. The outer bank (Wth c. 3m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.75m) is evident NW-NE. A field boundary curves along line of the outer bank from NE-NW. The outer fosse (Wth 2.5m; D 0.6m) is evident NW-NE. A rectangular platform (8.5m N-S; 8.8m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.4m) in the centre of the interior may be the foundations of a house.
