Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballinrooaun (longford By.)

Fairy forts hide inside ordinary farmland, waiting for patience rather than praise. That is why Ballinrooaun still matters: its ring has been ploughed, reduced to a pale ribbon in soil, yet it can be seen from above and measured at nearly thirty-four metres. The field boundary cut across it, not through it, as if the land remembered a shape newer than ownership. People may have lived there, feared it, or simply passed it with bread in their pockets.
