Excavation opened a stone lined pit beside a possible medieval house and a well in County Louth, Ireland. The discovery came during pre-development work in 1996, when ordinary ground let go of a small chamber that had waited beneath feet and rain. The pit may have held tools, food, refused things or memories for the people who lived above it.
