Enclosure

What is recorded here

On the edge of a large quarry to the N-NE, with a field boundary running N-S along the W side and another running E-W along the S side. Identified as the cropmark of a roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on an aerial photograph (CUCAP AYK065, 9 July 1969) with traces of another, possibly earlier, enclosure utilising the same fosse to the S-SW but extending beyond it by c. 10-15m to the N and NE. Another partial curving fosse of another enclosure (KK024-009002-) is visible on the same aerial photograph immediately to the S. See attached: KK024-009001-_01 aerial photograph (CUCAP AYK065, 9 July 1969) Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of revised upload: 21 September 2021
