Enclosure in Castletown (burren By.)

In undulating, improved pasture with low-lying ground to the E. Hachured on the OS 25-inch plan (1897) and on the later, Cassini edition (1920) of the OS 6-inch map as a subcircular enclosure (est. diams. c. 25-35m). This may have been referred to by Westropp (1896, 364) when he recorded, ‘Again ascending the ridge [from ‘Cahersavaun’ – CL010-067---- to the SE] we pass a late-looking enclosure, near which, in the rock, are three basins, so regular as to suggest their being artificial.’ No visible surface traces survive.
