Emmel Castle

Late 17th/early 18th-century gable ended house built onto the front of Emmel Castle (OF044-012001-). The house has a five bay two storey facade over a basement with projecting gable ended chimney stacks indicative of a late 17th-century date. (Garner 1985, 23) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
