What is recorded here

In level pasture, c. 200m S of Egmont House (14892) and c. 150m N of Egmont Barn (14946). Indicated on 1842 OS 6-inch map as hachured rectangular area (c. 35m E-W; c. 50m N-S) enclosed by fosse. Levelled; no visible surface trace. Noted by Grove White (1905-25, vol. 3, 98) as 'a bowling-green with a surrounding ditch which was wet once.' Visible in aerial photograph (CAS) as rectangular cropmark. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
