Grave Yard in County Offaly layers a 19th century C of I church above a graveyard probably dating to the 1700s, while a small central building marked as a ruined church on old maps may have stood where an earlier worship place disappeared. The buried church is not forgotten; it has become the foundation for later burial, forcing new stones to rest on old faith. Eglish castle lies nearby to the northwest, suggesting a long chain of power, devotion and death in one small landscape.

Present remains consist of a 19th century C of I church and modern graveyard which probably dates to the 1700s. Nothing remains of the earlier church (OF030-016----) which was located in the present graveyard (O' Flanagan 1933, vol. 2, 6). Small building in the centre of the graveyard that is indicated on the OS 6-inch map as a 'church in ruins' and is now used as a 19th century burial structure, may have been the site of an earlier church.
