Doona Fort is a circular earthen ring on a Cork hillock, twenty-three metres across, with a two-metre scarp and a broad eastern entrance. Ferns choke the interior and a shadowy passage may still hide beneath the soil. The shape is simple enough to walk, yet the hidden depth and forgotten makers keep it strange.

In pasture, atop hillock. Circular area (diam. 23m) defined by scarp (H 2m) with slight internal lip. Ledge at base of scarp to N; external fosse (D 0.5m) to W. Ground continues to fall but less steeply on all sides beyond enclosure. Entrance (Wth 6m) to E. Interior and scarp overgrown with ferns; possible Man-made underground passage (CO083-131----).
