Under Dunelty, between drumlins that rise like shoulders on either side, a hidden passage may still breathe. People whispered about it long before surveyors arrived, perhaps carrying lanterns or fleeing rain. The earth swallowed the entrance, but the shape remains plausible in the low ground where water gathers and shadows deepen.

Located in a low-lying position between drumlins to the W and E. According to tradition there was an underground passage or Man-made underground passage in Dunelty. However, details are lacking and the precise location is not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
