Dunboyne’s present Church of Ireland porch still holds fragments from a medieval building that likely rose in the fifteenth or sixteenth century. They are not display pieces; they are leftovers the new church refused to discard. That much of Dunboyne’s older worship may have worn, fallen or been broken before these pieces were saved. The town kept what could be kept, and the gap between churches is still visible in the stones they chose not to lose.

Architectural fragments kept in the porch of the present Church of Ireland church suggest a 15th or 16th century date for much of the medieval church (ME050-021001-). (Bradley and King 1985, 56-7) Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 13, April, 2015
