Cairn

One chamber contained the living fire, the second the dead flame, and the third the endless chain linking them. Cairn walked the edge of both, remembering life and mourning what loss consumed. The chamber of buckets had no chair, only a circular bench where every person remained an equal witness. She listened until the chamber of jars, then measured how much of each world entered the request. That is why the chamber of edge exists: to keep the child's life intact while still serving the world that wants to take it.
