Indicated is a small circular crannog beside Drumergoole Lough in County Leitrim, preserved beneath overgrowth and fallen trees. Cut timbers still lie hidden in the earth, while two quernstones and fragments moved to a nearby house, suggesting people once ground grain and lived above the water. The lake has shrunk since the 1835 map, but the island remains a quiet witness to that lost lakeshore world.

Located c. 30m from the N edge of Drumergoole Lough, which is now reduced to a small lake (dims c. 150m NE-SW; c. 100m NW-SE) on a small S-N stream that forms the boundary with Co. Cavan. However, the lake is represented as a larger rectangular feature (dims c. 300m NE-SW; c. 250m NW-SE) on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map. This is an overgrown circular island (diam. 10m; H 0.5m) with a wide shore (max. diam. 20m). Fallen trees reveal cut timbers in the matrix. Two quernstones and two quernstone fragments from the crannog are now at a nearby house. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
