Dromahair sits on a ridge above the Bonet River where O'Rourke kings once ruled Breifne, and cannon balls sunk in the water during Humbert's retreat still mark the bank. The village streets follow a pattern copied from Somerset, yet they lead past Crusoe ruins, a preserved Franciscan abbey, and the shadow of the Sleeping Giant. It is a place where conquest, faith and fantasy keep colliding, but the river carries every wound away without complaint.

Dromahaire is described as a village with about 18 houses in the later 17th century (Logan 1971, 332), which probably grew up around the fortified house (LE014-008----) but its precise location is not known. Copmiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 29 August, 2016
