That is the fairy fort in Dring, an earthen ringfort holding a broad oval of grass. Its low bank and shallow cut still mark the edge of a place people shaped before the entrance disappeared. It is not a display or a new invention. It is a old human form, partly forgotten, still standing in the field.

In level pasture. A raised oval area (36m NE-SW; 30m NW-SE) enclosed from N-S-SW by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth c. 4-5m; H 0.2-0.8m) and elsewhere defined by a scarp (H 0.7-1.35m). A report in 1975 (SMR file) recorded an external fosse, which is no longer visible. The original entrance is not recognisable. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011
