Dolmen

On shoulder of SW-facing slope in rolling arable land. Stones, aligned NE-SW, stand 1m apart; overall length is 2.95m. NE stone is 1.2m L, 0.7m T and 2m H. SW stone is 0.8m L, 0.7m T and 1.6m H. Loose quartzite block (1.4m maximum dimension) lies between stones and another stone (1.4m maximum dimension) lies at NE foot of N stone. Third stone is partially exposed beside NW side of SW stone; these stones appear to be field clearance debris. Dolmen – Shandangan West is likely Neolithic or Bronze Age in date, based on the construction style and materials typical of megalithic traditions in the region. Such structures may have served as ritual or burial sites, or held symbolic significance in prehistoric communities.
