Peat-cutting on a level shelf on the S side of Knocklomena has exposed a 34m stretch of E-W stone trackway, which disappears at E beneath a .5m high peat-face. It is 1.5m wide, has well-defined edges, and is formed of large flat slabs. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. A prehistoric trackway, likely Bronze Age in date, constructed of stone and gravel; it represents an early transport feature across a peatland, indicating human activity and landscape management in the area.
