What is recorded here

Ornamental canal, constructed c. 1830, in demesne of Doneraile Court. Comprises two rectangular water bodies, western being long and eastern being shorter, with narrow channels from west into larger body, between water bodies and outlet from smaller body. Small pedestrian bridges cross channels.
This is an excellent example of an ornamental demesne canal. Still in use, it retains its inlet and outlet channels and other features such as small stone bridges. It is part of an important group of demesne structures associated with Doneraile Court.
