Font (present location) in Dawros — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

The font is a shallow, plain sandstone basin that once stood in the chancel of the Catholic Church in Dawros. It now rests on three stone slabs on the church lawn, about twenty metres to the east, its rounded corners and flat rim catching light like a small marble dish. A child might have been lowered into that thin water, or perhaps it held rain for a moment before being emptied. Either way, the stone has carried life into the world and still sits where people can see it.

Formerly in the chancel of the Catholic Church in Dawros and currently mounted on three stone slabs on the lawn, c. 20m E of the church. A plain, subrectangular, flat-bottomed, sandstone baptismal font (0.77m x 0.54m; H c. 0.25m) with rounded corners and a flat rim. The wall of the font is 0.1m in thickness and internally the basin measures 0.57m x 0.34m and is 0.13m deep. Its original location could not be established.
