Dalkey church once wore a grave slab as a roof lintel, forcing every entrance to pass beneath the weight of a forgotten death. The granite block measured thirty centimetres less than a metre long, smooth and marker-free, embedding personal loss inside the building's daily structure. Moving it into the graveyard restored its identity as a grave rather than a doorway, yet the earlier choice reveals how communities reused death as ordinary architecture.

This slab is located in the graveyard (DU023-023020-) attached to the church (DU023-023002-). It had formerly been built in as a lintel in the S wall of the church. It is of granite (L 0.50m, Wth 0.40m). No decoration can be seen (Swords, K. ed.2009, 69). Compiled by: Geraldine Stout and Padraig Clancy Revised upload on: 18 June 2018
