Settlement deserted is a settlement deserted, medieval in Curraghboy, County Roscommon, Ireland. Its boundaries survive as low grassy banks and collapsed stone walls, while three sunken hollow ways cross the ground, one linking a nearby rath to routes near the modern road. The field triangle contained a nunnery and three house-sites, including a subcircular east-facing structure and a rectangular double-walled building, with two cashels at the southern end. Archaeological testing before the N4 widening found no datable settlement remains, leaving the earthworks themselves as the visible record of the place.

There is a reference to a 16th century settlement (Loeber 1991, distribution map). This would probably be situated around Curraghboy Castle (RO048-075----) but no evidence of it was encountered. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
