What is recorded here

Clearance in 1982 removed the earthen banks and two upright stones, uncovering human bones within the oval enclosure. Local tradition holds the site as a religious settlement, yet the bones suggest death and burial occurred where worship or living once centered. The high ridge still commands the Meander River, waiting for someone to explain why people gathered there before the earth took them back.

In pasture, on a high ridge with a commanding location, E of Meander River. Shown on OS map (1931) as roughly oval enclosure (diam. c. 150m); now defined by scarp. Stone field fence running WNW-ESE, divides the site into two sectors. Land to S was reclaimed but scarp (H 1.3m) survives ESE-WNW. Outline of N portion is easily descernible from the ground and scarp contiues to N. Breach (Wth 28m) in E may been position of entrance.
