Inishcaltra is a small Clare island where a twelfth-century cross-slab still stands inside the Saint’s graveyard. The stone measures fifty-four inches long and tapers toward its base, carrying a Latin cross whose lower shaft angles outward like a foot planted in earth. It is not a distant monument but a living marker, the kind of place where prayer, memory and time still move together.

Situated in the NE quadrant of the ‘Saint’s graveyard’ (CL029-009030-) on Inis Cealtra (11.52m from the N wall and 4.06m from the E wall). Noted by Macalister (1916-17, 156, no. 51) as of ‘twelfth-century type’ and described as a slab measuring 5ft 6in (1.67m) by 1ft 10in (0.55m), tapering down to 1ft 5in (0.43m), with a Latin cross with hollowed angles and the lower shaft angled outwards to form a base.
