What is recorded here
Walled garden, built 1820, on a square plan with red brick Flemish bond boundary wall to perimeter having overgrown rounded coping. Now disused. Set in grounds originally shared with Courtown House.
A walled garden forming part of a neat self-contained group alongside an adjoining head gardener's house (see 15701218) with the resulting ensemble not only surviving as an interesting relic of the Courtown House estate following the sale (1947) and subsequent demolition (1948-9) of the eponymous country house (see 15701216), but also illustrating the continued development or "improvement" of the estate in the nineteenth century.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
