Knockainy Hill casts its shadow southward toward a field where an ordinary standing stone still waits for cattle to rub their backs against it. People erected the stone within living memory, choosing practical relief over ceremonial grandeur. The hill looms like a forgotten god while the stone remains a humble scratch post, reminding us that human hands still shape the landscape for ordinary pleasure.

Described by O'Kelly (1944, 20) as following; 'In a field immediately south of the road which runs along the S. base of Knockainy Hill. It has been erected within living memory as a scratching post for cattle'. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 06 August 2019
