Pier, built 1886, of mass concrete with sea gravel aggregate, having concrete storm wall to seaward side, extended, c.1930. Concrete steps to seaward side. Cast-iron bollards and mooring posts, and cut granite coping stones to south-west (landward) side. Lighthouse to north-west end.

A notable example of early concrete, this well built and sturdy pier is a reminder of the importance of maritime activities in the locality. While Wicklow was long used as a natural harbour, the construction of piers in the town contributed to its social and economic development in the late nineteenth century.
