Standing stone in Coronea still leans southeast on a north-facing slope above the River Ilen, its rectangular body and triangular section catching light from the estuary below. The stone measures 1.2m long, 0.4m wide and 0.7m high, aligned northeast to southwest in open pasture where cattle may have passed since before written memory. Its tilt does not read as collapse so much as adjustment, as if the ground took it partly into itself. A person could have stood beside it at dawn, watching water move and marking the place without naming it.
