Pair of semi-detached three-bay two-storey over basement houses, built c.1830, with canted oriel windows to south and remains of shopfront to western house. Hipped replacement slate roof with rendered central chimneystack and cast-iron downpipe to eastern house. Replacement uPVC rainwater goods and fascia and recent rooflights. Smooth rendered walls. Camber-headed (east house) and square-headed (west house) window openings with limestone sills and uPVC replacement windows. Camber-headed door openings with moulded render surrounds, keystone having mask motif to western house, timber panelled doors with overlights, tiled threshold (western house) and limestone threshold (eastern house). Shopfront comprising raised render walling with fascia and cornice, paired square-headed window openings with render sills and uPVC windows and square-headed door opening with recent timber panelled door. Houses front directly onto street with cast-iron railings with spear-head finials on limestone plinth to eastern house having cast-iron gate piers and pedestrian gate.
A pair of houses displaying fine render detailing that highlights the symmetrical facade. The addition of features such as the mask motif keystone and cast-iron railings add interest, while the surviving shopfront adds an interesting insight into the history of the pair. It forms an eye-catching addition to the streetscape.
