What is recorded here
Coomasaharn holds two small cupmarks and a triangular indent on a fractured Kerry sandstone slope, yet weathering has blurred most of the surface into faint scratches. The stones sit beside improved pasture, exposing ancient human marks to rain, grass and forgetting. Whatever intention shaped those cups has nearly vanished, leaving behind a rough ledge where memory itself becomes hard to read.
In improved pasture field, on a SE-facing slope (179m OD). A very rough and fractured, prominent sandstone rock outcrop (dims. 3.70m NW-SE; 2.20m NE-SW; max. H 0.85m) with a rectangular decorated surface (dims. 1.45m NE-SW; 0.60m NW-SE) which is NW-facing. The rock art is very weathered and faint. The motifs consist of two cupmarks (diam. 3cm; D 4mm) off-centre to S. A triangular mark (dims. 5cm x 4cm; D 4mm) is located off-centre to W. Multiple pickmarks (diam. 5-10mm; D 4-5mm) of varying sizes, having no discernible pattern, occupy most of the decorated surface. A linear groove (dims. L 78cm; Wth 4-6 cm; D 7mm) extends (long-axis NW-SE) across surface of stone, to E, however this may be a modern marking. Two major rock fissures to N are enhanced by grass growing within.
