Gallán is a subrectangular standing stone in County Cork, Ireland, measuring 1.15m high and leaning NE-SW inside a stone wall beside a lane. It resisted mapping in 1842 and 1904, suggesting people passed it without treating it as exceptional. That absence is not forgetfulness; it is familiarity. A stone large enough to mark a choice stops being remarkable when the choice becomes ordinary.
