Hut site in Commons West (bear By.)

Hut site

What is recorded here

In rough hill pasture, on a break on the W-facing stony slopes of Miskish Mountain and within a network of relict field boundaries (CO114-084011-). The remains of a D-shaped hut site (3.4m N-S) defined by the jumbled lower courses of a collapsed, curving, drystone wall (T 0.5m; H 0.4m) with a straight S side (L 4m). Rubble partially obscures the sloping interior. Another hut site (CO114-084007-) abuts this hut site to the S. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
