Detached four-bay single-storey part double-pile rubble stone outbuilding, c.1860, with pair of pointed-arch integral carriageways and single-bay single-storey projecting parallel block to left (north-east). Gable-ended roofs (some double-pile (M-profile)) with slate. Clay ridge tiles. Cut-stone coping to gables. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Squared rubble stone walls. Square-headed window openings. Stone sills. Yellow brick surrounds. Now boarded-up. Pair of pointed-arch integral carriageways. Yellow brick dressings to carriageway to left with no fittings. Cut-stone chamfered reveal to carriageway to right with replacement iron sheeted double door, c.1980. Square-headed door opening to projecting block to left (north-east). Yellow brick surrounds. This small group of buildings, possibly originally intended as a workshop with attendant labourer’s cottage, is an attractive feature in the grounds of Saint Patrick’s College. Of social and historical interest, the buildings represent a facet of the development and maintenance of the college in the mid nineteenth century. The buildings remain in fair condition and retain some important early or original features and materials, including timber boarded doors and slate roofs having cast-iron rainwater goods.
