What is recorded here

Indicated is a vanished enclosure beside Lough Conn, mapped as a circular rath in 1838 and still fenced in woods in 1930 before being levelled. It has no visible trace now except a subcircular cropmark, thirty-one metres across, that the land still draws beneath grass and pasture. What was removed may have been a boundary, a shrine, a garden or a childhood marker, but the shape remained long enough to resist forgetting.

In pasture, 100m from the NE shoreline of Lough Conn. This enclosure is depicted on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a circular rath-like enclosure, and on the 1930 edition as a hachured, subcircular enclosure within a wooded, fenced off area. It has been levelled. There is no visible trace at ground level, but the outline of a subcircular cropmark (31m E–W; 26m N–S) is visible in aerial views.
