What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in Cloondart, County Roscommon, Ireland. It appears as a small five-metre feature on the 1914 OS 6-inch map, lying sixty metres from the west shore in the northern arm of Errit Lough. Timbers emerged on the lake floor in 1988 when drainage of the River Lung lowered the water, but the crannog no longer rises above the surface.

Marked as a small feature (diam. c. 5m) on the 1914 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated c. 60m from the W shore in the N arm (dims. c. 400m NW-SE; c. 300m NE-SW) of Errit Lough. A number of timbers were visible on the lake floor in 1988 when the lake water had been lowered during drainage of the River Lung (SMR file). It is not visible above the surface to-day.
