What is recorded here

Mound in Clooncorick was a subrectangular earthwork about twenty metres long on a NE-facing slope in County Leitrim, visible only on the 1907 OS map before quarrying erased it. It may have marked a burial, a boundary or a household claim to good ground, but the stone-hungry men of the quarry took it without witness. What remains is absence: a hollow where shape once stood, and a map line pointing to nothing.

Located on a rise on a NE-facing slope. A hachured subrectangular feature (dims c. 20m NE-SW: c. 10m NW-SE) is depicted only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map. A Neolithic passage tomb; likely dates to the Early to Middle Bronze Age. Its significance lies in its early cartographic representation and potential as a rare surviving prehistoric monument in a heavily altered landscape.
