What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in County Mayo, Ireland, though no visible marker or clear memory remains to show where it sat. The name sounds like a pointer, yet it points only to absence. Perhaps people once built a small house on sticks above wet ground, lived there through rain and darkness, then left it to rot back into the lake.
