Enclosure in Clonrobin

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Enclosure in Clonrobin: Clonrobin, County Cork. Fort recorded by Bowman in 1934 on Mr O'Riordan's land, levelled many years ago. No visible trace remains, yet local tradition still names the fort. Forgetting has done more surveying here than any instrument.
In pasture. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 413) as fort on Mr O'Riordan's land, which 'was levelled many years ago'. No visible surface trace; local tradition of fort remains. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
