Burial Gd.

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Burial Gd. is a living graveyard in County Limerick, Ireland, holding deaths from 1767 alongside the broken remains of Cloncrew parish church. The Deel river passes close by, and the earthen bank still directs people to the southern gate. It is not a abandoned ruin but a kept place where new stones join old ones beneath the same open sky.
In pasture, close to E bank of River Deel. Roughly rectangular graveyard (c. 30m E-W; c. 25m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank, with entrance gate on S side. In occasional use and maintained. At N end fragmentary remains of parish church of Cloncrew (LI054-028001-). Earliest headstone noted dated 1767, lies within area of church; many late-18th, 19th and 20th century headstones.
