What is recorded here

Indicated was a double-rampart fairy fort in County Cork, large enough to circle twice before returning to the starting point. It stood on an open field until people levelled the earth and planted corn, turning a ancient boundary into a harvest. The field is pasture now, but the fort did not disappear; it stopped resisting the plough and became a story about what happens when human hands treat sacred shape as waste.

Depicted as circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1842 and 1903 OS 6-inch maps; partially levelled on 1939 OS 6-inch map (revised 1934-35). Hartnett (1939, 278) recorded site levelled with corn growing on it (1937); according to him 'it apparently had a double rampart and an overall diameter of about 120 feet'. Field now under pasture.
