Clogherrevagh House

Detached multi-bay two-storey-over-basement stone college building, built c. 1890. Irregular plan constructed around two contiguous east-west blocks, pyramid-roofed tower to north, flat-roofed single-storey entrance porch in corner between tower and north face of north block, oriel window at first floor of west gable of north block, canted bay window at ground floor west gable south block, square bay window at ground floor south elevation south block, gabled two-storey projection to south elevation east end north block, flat roofed infill to east end south block, fire escapes c. 1990 to east and south elevations. Pitched and hipped slate roofs, clay ridge tiles, lead hip cappings, flat-roofed dormer, ashlar limestone corbelled chimneystacks, wrought-iron finial to pyramidal roof, painted timber decorative overhanging bargeboards, moulded cast-iron gutters on painted timber projecting eaves. Rock-faced squared-and-snecked ashlar limestone walling, moulded strings to porch parapet, tooled and chamfered quoins, tooled and chamfered plinth. Square-headed mullioned window openings, tooled and splayed ashlar dressings, hood mouldings, uPVC casement windows c. 1995, oculus windows to various locations. Flat pointed-arch main entrance door opening, moulded and tooled ashlar limestone dressings, hardwood vertically-sheeted double doors c. 1995, inscribed panel over, stone step. Bitmac carpark, wrought-iron railings, grassed areas within St. Angela's College complex overlooking Lough Gill to south.

This fine and exuberantly articulated building has retained most of its original form and fabric. Items of note include the main entrance doorway, decorative bargeboards and finely-executed stonework.
