One chamber, four openings in the same limestone wall. Coleman entered in 1942 and found a thin layer of ordinary life: iron, bronze, worked bone, worked stone, bird bones, fish shells, charcoal, domesticated animal bones and wild animal bones. The cave did not announce itself as grand. It recorded repetition. People cooked, warmed themselves, made things, ate what they caught or kept, and left the remains behind. The rock still holds that rhythm.
