Children's Burial Ground

Children's burial grounds scattered across County Clare and the wider west coast hold the remains of unbaptised and stillborn children excluded from consecrated churchyards under strict Canon Law. This painful religious boundary created hundreds of separate graves where ordinary families could not bury their youngest losses.
