In Charleville, on ENE side of graveyard. Former C of I parish church of Rathgoggin. Built in 1846 on site of church erected in 1661 (Lewis 1837, vol. 1, 324). Rectangular nave (long axis WSW-ENE), coursed ashlar limestone construction, with corner and side buttresses. Pointed windows in N and S wall (5 in N, 4 in S). Chancel to E with triple lancet window. Gabled porch to W with pointed door. All windows and doors have hood mouldings. Tower, with corner pinnacles, topped by spire, added to E end of S wall. Deconsecrated in 1960's and roof removed; 17th century font removed to Doneraile C of I Church (14716). Renovated and converted to library in 1990. Rectangular graveyard (c. 100m ENE-WSW; c. 40m NNE-SSW), enclosed by stone walls; early-19th to mid-20th century headstones and burial vaults; headstones relocated along enclosing walls when graveyard turned into town park in late 1960's.
